Canadian Association for Plant Biotechnology Canadian Association for Plant Biotechnology (CAPB) is part of the . IAPB was formed in 1970-1971 with the name of the International Association for Plant Tissue Culture (IAPTC) when plant in vitro regeneration was a major research area in plant sciences. CAPB goals are to: Promote interaction among plant biotechnology researchers in Canada. Liaison with the International Association of Plant Biotechnology. Advocate for plant biotechnology research Bridge the gap between academia/basic research and industry Serve as a contact point for plant biotechnology-related information in Canada. In addition to participating in IAPB quadrennial meetings, CAPB holds its own biannual meetings in Canada.  Last year CAPB had a joint meeting with the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists (CAPB) from June 18-21, 2016 at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario under the theme Plant Biotech.  The meeting was very well attended with over 330 participants, and CAPB was very well represented.
